πΈ INGREDIENTS
π€ For the Vanilla Batter
• 100 g softened butter
• 90 g sugar
• 1 vanilla bean
• 2 eggs
• 100 g flour
• 2 g baking powder
π« For the Chocolate Batter
• 100 g softened butter
• 100 g sugar
• 2 eggs
• 75 g flour
• 2 g baking powder
• 25 g unsweetened cocoa powder
π© π³ METHOD
1. Prepare the Oven
Preheat your oven to 170°C / 340°F.
Grease and flour a loaf pan, or line it with baking paper.
2. Make the Vanilla Batter
Place the softened butter in a bowl and mix with a spatula until creamy.
Add the sugar and mix until well combined.
Split the vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape out the seeds. Add them to the butter mixture.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Sift in the flour and baking powder, then mix until you have a smooth batter.
3. Make the Chocolate Batter
In a separate bowl, mix the softened butter until creamy.
Add the sugar and mix well.
Add the eggs one at a time, stirring after each addition.
Sift in the flour, baking powder, and cocoa powder. Mix until smooth and fully combined.
4. Create the Marble Effect
Spoon alternating layers of vanilla and chocolate batter into the prepared loaf pan.
Once all the batter is added, gently swirl a knife through the layers to create a beautiful marble pattern.
Avoid overmixing, so the two colours remain distinct.
5. Bake the Cake
Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a knife or toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.
If the top starts browning too quickly, loosely cover it with aluminium foil for the remaining baking time.
Cool & Serve
Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool slightly in the pan.
Carefully remove it from the pan and allow it to cool before slicing.
Serve with coffee, tea, or a glass of milk. Enjoy! ☕π°
✨ MY LITTLE TIP
For the prettiest marble effect, alternate small spoonfuls of each batter and swirl with a knife just a few times. Too much swirling can blend the colours together!
Soft, buttery, chocolatey, and beautifully swirled — this marble cake is a classic you'll want to make again and again! π€π€π°
